Windows Problem

Windows problems, they can be hard to fix but I always like a challenge. A customer dropped off an older DELL laptop the other day. It had been working fine with Windows 7 but after an upgrade to Windows 10 the laptop screen would show the Windows logo when starting and then give a black screen. The customer connected an external monitor and managed to get a display on that. Mmmm.. sounds like a corrupt windows video driver thinks I.

After a bit of investigating, it appears there are a few things to try, however in this case it turned out it was a firmware issue. BIOS firmware updated and all was fixed. Of course I took the time to completely check and optimise Windows as well as a memory upgrade which is always a good thing on an older laptop.
